Learning Fun with Drawing and Painting

August 22, 2016

Learning through art is fun!

By making, looking at, and talking about their own art and the artwork of others, preschool children learn so much:

  • Practice and gain fine muscle control by holding paintbrushes and learning how to control paint, crayons, scissors
  • Become aware of colours, shapes, lines, and textures result as they observe them and try to imitate them through art.
  • Get to make choices and solve problems. What color should I use? How do I cut this picture from a magazine? Making art offers preschoolers a slew of choices and decisions to make.
  • See that others have other points of view and ways of expressing them than they do. Comparing their friend’s paintings, drawings, and PlayDoh creations gives little one’s specific examples of how different people express the same thing in different ways.

We are excited to see how our Pied Piper Preschoolers learn and grow during the 2016-2017 school year! Remember to check your child’s folder, so you can take home their creations.

Also, if you haven’t downloaded the Seesaw app, please do. That’s where we will be uploading pictures of your child in action.
